I’m New

Welcome!

If you’re new here, welcome! It's a privilege to have you stop by.

If you’re interested in learning about Jesus or looking for a church on the Gold Coast we’d love to meet you. There’s always lots happening at Arundel Presbyterian Church but the best way to meet us is to come along any Sunday to one of our three services - 8:15am, 10am or 6pm. Check out our Sundays page for a description of each.

FAQs

  • Absolutely! Arundel Presbyterian Church is for everyone and anyone. In fact, we love meeting and getting to know new people and helping them meet and get to know Jesus. So whatever your background and whatever your current circumstances, please come!

  • Each of our church services lasts for about an hour and 15 minutes. While the three services vary (check out our Sundays page for more detail), in each of them we help each other to know and trust Jesus by singing and praying together and hearing stories from the church family.

We also read a passage from the Bible together and one of our pastors teaches what it means and why it matters. During our 10am Late Start service we also run programs for kids & youth aged 0-14. After the service most of us hang around to catch up over morning tea (8:15am & 10am) or dinner (6pm).

  • Honestly, whatever you want. Just be yourself - we don’t have a dress code!

  • On the ground (because the Chief Shepherd leads from heaven!), like all Presbyterian Churches, Arundel Presbyterian Church is led by a team of elders. In all important matters of a spiritual nature, including pastoral care and overall direction of the church, the elders (known collectively as the “Session”) are responsible under Christ. Within the Session, the Senior Minister/Pastor has the roles of “moderator” (leads Session meetings), “teaching elder” (responsible for all the preaching and teaching content within the church), and has oversight of the Arundel Presbyterian Church staff team.

The Senior Minister is answerable to the Presbytery (the regional body of the PCQ) for how he conducts those roles. In practical terms, the elders authorise many others to play delegated leadership roles within specific ministries at Arundel Presbyterian Church. For more about our elders and staff, you can visit the Our Team page.

  • We take seriously our responsibility to provide a welcoming and safe place for children and young people to grow together in following Jesus. As such, everyone regularly involved in ministry to young people is required to hold a Queensland Government Blue Card and undergo annual PresSafe training.

These measures, along with careful oversight of all our ministries to young people, help us to run kids & youth ministries that are not only engaging and spiritually nourishing but also safe in every respect.

  • Arundel Presbyterian Church is funded solely through the freewill giving of our members. Following the Bible’s teaching, we encourage everyone who calls Arundel Presbyterian Church their church to contribute financially to the work of their church - both to enable effective and expanding ministry and also for the good of their souls. Giving can be done by direct debit (our preference as it enables consistent giving and therefore a more steady flow of income) or by giving cash on a Sunday through the “Everything Box” on the back table near the sound desk.

In 2023 we’re aiming for a balanced budget of $470,000. The majority of our expenses (about 75%) are to pay for our four full-time staff (Senior Pastor, Assistant Pastor & two Ministry Trainees) and one part-time staff member (Admin Assistant). The other 25% of our costs are related to property, maintenance and running costs and non-staff ministry expenses. Our finances and property are administered by our Committee of Management and the budget is presented to the congregation for approval every year in October/November.
